Winfried Conradi (Peter Simonischek) worries that his daughter Ines (Sandra Hüller) has no life outside of work. A practical joker, he decides to don the guise of Toni Erdmann, a socially maladjusted eccentric, to show her what she's missing.
Maren Ade's social comedy is hilarious and ultimately touching – a universal story of the lengths parents will go to protect their children, no matter how old they are.
