Tom (Ethan Hawke) arrives in Paris to see his daughter, but his wife threatens to call the police if he doesn’t leave. With no money, he takes a job as a doorman in an odd and shambolic apartment block. When he meets Margit (Kristin Scott Thomas) at a party, he embarks on an affair with her. Pawel Pawlikowski’s (My Summer of Love) film is a beguiling, beautifully-shot drama.
