Writer-director Rebecca Thomas’ impressive debut, Electrick Children tells the story of Rachel (Julia Garner), a young member of a small, rural Mormon community who, following a shocking revelation, leaves her kin for the bright lights of Las Vegas. There she meets a young gang of drifters, including Clyde (Rory Culkin), who takes a shine to her. However, Rachel’s past is never far behind. Garner, who appeared in Martha Marcy May Marlene, is a revelation in this beautifully paced drama.
