Lurid, scandalous, even something of a shock, Robert Aldrich’s outrageous melodrama is now seen as a camp classic. Bette Davis and Joan Crawford play a former child star and movie Icon, two sisters whose hatred of each other is magnified when they are forced to live together. Aldrich exploits the genuine hatred the stars felt for each other in this singular example of Hollywood at its most macabre.
