HISTORY

Curzon Ripon brings cinema back to Ripon 31 years after its last Picturehouse closed. The building on North Street was a furniture store for many years but had been closed for several years before the owners made the decision to convert it to a cinema and restaurant complex.

The city, which once had three cinemas, saw its last one, the Palladium, in Kirkgate, close its doors in 1982, after showing films for 66 years. The last film to be screened was Clint Eastwood'sFirefox.
