After overcoming initial controversy to prove himself a natural fit for the role, Daniel Craig’s second outing as James Bond follows on from where Casino Royale left off, with 007 determined to find out the truth behind his betrayal by Vesper Lynd, the woman he loved. Marc Forster (The Kite Runner) brings a deft balance of wit and intelligence to the project (scripted by Paul Haggis, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade) and the action sequences more than live up to the standard set in the previous instalment, as do the film’s lush and evocative settings. French actor Mathieu Amalric, last seen in Heartbeat Detector, is brilliant as 007’s nemesis, Dominic Greene.
