ICO Essentials is a new series of national touring programmes presenting iconic and influential films by artists. The six themed programmes include newly restored classics and influential gems that have blazed a trail through the visual arts, fashion, music and design influencing countless artists and films throughout the 20th Century. Collected together under broad themes the programmes propose distinct new ways of looking at the past century, ranging from politics to pop. Drawing on a wide range of practices from across the world the ICO Essentials programmes offer revelatory and ground-breaking works.

Selected by six leading curators each of the Essentials programmes offers an accessible introduction to the fascinating world of artist’s film and video.
