A Monster Calls

Things that go bump in the night might sometimes be real.

After his tsunami drama The Impossible, J.A. Bayona returns to the more unsettling territory of The Orphanage with this tale of Conor (Lewis MacDougall), a young boy whose attempt to deal with a tragic family situation finds him befriended by a tree monster.

It's a smart, occasionally unsettling and touching film, featuring an exceptional performance by Felicity Jones, and Liam Neeson as the monster.

Director(s): Juan Antonio Bayona
