Curzon and Bechdel Test Fest present a double-bill of Stella Corradi's award-winning short film Little Soldier and Sally Potter's Ginger & Rosa at Curzon Aldgate. Stella Corradi and Zawe Ashton will join feminist film festival Bechdel Test Fest for a post-screening Q&A.
Little Soldier is a short film about a young girl's powerful imagination for which Corradi won the Best Female Director award at the London Short Film Festival 2017. Previously, she worked as Director’s Assistant to Sally Potter on both Ginger & Rosa and the forthcoming The Party. This event is a unique opportunity to see the two female-led, female directed films together, followed by a discussion about mentorship and creative collaboration.
Sally Potter’s Ginger & Rosa is an evocative coming of age story about Ginger, a politically charged young teenager navigating an intense friendship with the fiery Rosa (Alice Englert, daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Jane Campion) and the demands of her activist parents against the backdrop of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. Featuring an urgent, expressive central performance from Elle Fanning as the bright but fragile Ginger, this is a nimble examination of political and personal responsibility. Also starring Alessandro Nivola, Christina Hendricks, Timothy Spall, Jodhi May and Annette Bening.
